What are the best lessons love teaches you

Who did not have at least one big love, one shared love and one that only remained a dream for so many reasons. Love is the greatest feeling in the world – it makes you happy, it gives you strength, it makes you learn about yourself and grow as you go through it. Here are three of many lessons:

  1. Ideal and real love are two different perceptions of the same feeling. How many times you fell for someone and idealized everything about them. Love is a hype and it makes you dream, exaggerate and see your dream partner at their best. The bigger the discrepancy between ideal- and real-self of your partner, the bigger the disappointment when the first sparkles are gone.
  2. Love is a risk-taking adventure. You reveal yourself and your secrets to someone you love and expect in return that they will always love you. Every love story has a beautiful beginning, but not always a happily ever after. You either take the risk and explore the love you desire or you will never fully love with your entire self and experience love at its best. It can hurt and it can empower.
  3. The belief that once you find love, you will have it forever, is utopic. While falling in love is sweet and easy, staying in love is the real challenge and a hard-working matter. To love someone beyond the falling in love romantic phase and to be loved, means sharing appreciation, feelings, forgiveness, gratitude and trust. It also means becoming a better version of yourself every day and inspiring your partner to do the same.

As much as love teaches you lessons and scares you, you will always need a dose of romance or a big love story.
